Club Moorings
The Royal Savage Yacht Club maintains several private moorings for the use of our members. There are five club moorings, two in Converse Bay, two in Porter Bay, and one in Kingsland Bay. They are generally identified with the letters "RSYC" (see more specific descriptions below) and are available to any club member on a first come first served basis. There is no sign up or reservation system. Please fly your RSYC burgee when you use the moorings. If you raft up with friends, that increases the number of members who can enjoy the moorings.
***** Converse Bay *****
NOTE - This is an old picture. There is now only one mooring in the South East section.
There is one mooring in the north east portion of the bay. This one is a white half barrel with the number "63" on it. The mushroom anchor on this one is fairly small (~250 lbs) so use caution if you have a big boat or if there is a strong wind.
There is a second mooring in the south east portion of the bay which is in a field of about ten moorings. It is labeled with the letters "RSYC". Note - there are also two round white moorings which belong to the Lake Champlain Yacht Club (marked "LCYC"). Please be sure not to take the LCYC moorings by mistake. Our mooring is white and is probably cone shaped. There is generally a pick up float attached to the mooring line.
***** Porter Bay *****
There are two moorings in Porter Bay on the north side. They are located in a field of about eight moorings. The floats are round balls both with the markings "RSYC" on them. One is a plastic white buoy and the other is an inflated red buoy. Note - the two moorings are immediately next to each other this year - there should be a pick up buoy on each but sometimes the pick up buoys "disappear". Please note that there are several other private moorings in the bay. Please respect these moorings and do not pick them up unless you have checked with their owners. There is also a mooring labeled "PBM" (Point Bay Marina) but it does not belong to the club.
****** KINGSLAND BAY *******
There is a new mooring in Kingsland bay this season. Sorry we don't have a graphic yet but it is a round red inflatable mooring with the black letters "RSYC" on it. It is located in the western mooring area (on the right side as you enter the bay) in a field of about twenty moorings. Be careful, the Lake Champlain Yacht Club has one or more moorings in the same area. Theirs are labeled "LCYC" and are generally white round mooring balls.
Enjoy !!!
