RSYC held a series of eight "fast-sail" events throughout the 2007 sailing season. To make the events competitive, boats were handicapped using a PHRF rating system, and the maximum head sail size allowed was a 150% Genoa (no spinnakers permitted). Most events were held following Saturday morning coffee hours (or following a Friday night dessert) , and took place near Point Bay Marina. Every boat participating in a fast-sail received one point. The first place boat received 10 points and the last place boat received 1 point. Points for all other participating boats were pro-rated from 1 to 10 based upon the number of boats participating. The overall seasonal winner has its boat name and captain's name engraved on the club's "John Donnelly Fast Sail Trophy". The winner of the 2007 trophy was Kaizen skippered by Jeff & Tracy Tobrocke.
